Because the hot water will make the air in the table tennis ball become warm. The warm air expands and so it will push out any dents that have been made in the ball.

T T balls are plastic balls filled with air. Sometimes they suffer dents on hits while playing. These dents can only be repaired by putting them in hot water as the gas inside it expands being hot and creates pressure on the inner wall. Since plastic is also get softened by heat, the inside pressure which exerts equal force on the circular boundaries ( according to Pascal's theory), the ball gains it shape.

I'll guess that the heat softens the material, while the hot water causes the air inside to expand, putting internal pressure on the ball, pushing out the dents.

Hot water gives the air particles inside the table tennis ball energy to move around faster, thus making the air pressure inside the ball higher. So the higher air pressure pushes out and there you have it, a dentless or pretty much dentless table tennis ball.

warm air is way less dense than chilly air. So, it takes up more beneficial room. you should use this for your income with a dented table tennis ball through heating up and increasing the air contained in the ball. This pushes the wall of the ball lower back out. i don't think of the bounce features stay a similar although. there'll be a weak consider the ball after this happens.

Air expands as it is heated, so the expanding air inside the ball would push out the dents.
