did this series back in the 70's come out before Starwars or after, and if after - it does seem to mark an astonishingly similar resemblance to starwars.
good versus evil, good an bad, and also, the fact that the bad guy, what was his name also, the darth figure guy and the woman in white, she just looked eveil, I was scared of her as a kid lol. and also the bad guys soldiers in uniforms like they were.

I think the first series was in 78 and it finished in 81. I don't think it copied off star wars, but I do see the resemblance. Really, it was more a copy of the Michael York/Jenny Agutter film, Logan's Run with the bad government oppressing citizens etc.
I LOVE Blake's 7. Named my animals after it. So far I've got Blake (my dog - a doberman cross) and Cally and Avon which are both cats.
My ex still goes to Blake's 7 conventions! There was one in Stoke last October and he got to meet Paul Darrow (Avon) and the woman who plays Servalan (the woman in white).
The guy who played Villa turned up a few years ago playing a paedo in Grange Hill, Paul Darrow cropped up as a judge in Hollyoaks, and the guy who was Servalan's right hand man Travis was Ted in Eastenders!!

Still a good show and one of the few to have an overall story arc rather than episodic dilemmas with a magic reset button at the end of every episode.

One of the reasons that there were a lot of similarities is that both modelled the baddie element on the Nazi's as well as the traditional 'bad guys wear black'.
