Speaking as a bald guy: No. Most toupees look like you're wearing a dead animal on your head.
My advice: Get him some therapy sessions, to gain self-acceptance. I like being bald, because I save a fortune on haircuts. Besides, my friends like me for what's INSIDE my head, not on top.
Tell him to get rid of the comb-over, too... that fools no one (been there, done that).
Give him a big smooch on his shiny head and tell him you like him anyway. That might work.

Give him a gift certificate to a salon! Toupee's are worse than a comb over most of the time.
