You got a point there. Same with cigarette taxes. It's a vicious circle. They don't ban them because of the taxes they collect, yet tell you to stop. Those taxes fund all those "quit it" agencies and they'll all be out of a job if you do. Many cities and towns jump on the bandwagon hoping to add a local tax to "sin" products to fund their budgets rather than raising property taxes on everybody and therefore don't antagonize their pure white constituants. I remember buying cigarettes for my mother as a kid, at 14 cents a pack. Tobacco was one of the American industries that built this country, one of our first exports too. They haven't attacked AIDS patients tho, and ask for funds all the time. The same does not apply to other vices.

Alcoholism is NOT a disease, like using drugs is not. I am a firm believer that it is a choice, it can lead to you having a some sort of disease. But being that you choose to drink and it spirals out of control, you should be held accountable for your action. We all know what drinking can lead to {no one is immune} therefor you Need to be responsible and make good decisions. To have it paid for by the government, is ridiculous, take the treatment if you need it and then you get billed for it. I know that I am tired of paying for everyone's downfall. It's way past time that people start taking responsibility and be held accountable for their action.

Taxpayers are really getting tired of paying for the weakness of others. Instead of rewarding those who lose control to drugs or alcohol the cost of programs for treatment should come from companies that make the booze and the confiscation of all properties of drug pushers. There should be a national registry of all people convicted of selling drugs like there is for sex offenders. Many more people are destroyed by drugs than sex offenders.

If the "scientific care" isn't recommended via your well being care expert, therapist or courtroom no provincial well being plan is going to conceal it. All psychological well being centers have a well being middle atmosphere. those that don't are referred to as hotels.

no, people chose to drink and pay for the alcohol, therefore they should have to pay for treatment. Just take the money you would spend on alcohol and spend it on treatment
