I pour it in, shut if off about half way thru, wait awhile, and turn it back on. Then run clean water several times thru it (on), will clean it and speed it up considerably.

Here is how I do it:
First put a filter in the coffeemaker basket. Use distilled white vinegar and pour it in the coffeemaker until it is about half full. Then let it set about 30 minutes so all the hard water deposits and gunk are loosened. Next turn the coffeemaker on and let the vinegar run through. The filter will catch all the junk so I sometimes run the vinegar through a second time. However, you can just go to the rinse now.Use plain water for a rinse to get out all the vinegar.
Next time you make coffee you will see the difference in how fast your coffee brews.

Pour the vinegar in the water container and turn on the machine. It will draw the vinegar up and run it through the machine, leaving it in the coffee pitcher.
Then run water through the machine several times to get the vinegar taste out. The vinegar is a weak acid (acetic). It dissolves the minerals that precipitate out of the water.

Put about 2 cups of vinegar in your coffee maker turn it on and let about half of the vinegar run through then turn the coffee maker off and let sit for 30 minutes. Then after 30 minutes run the rest through and then run all thru again .then run 2 cycles of clean cold water. Wash carafe and basket is hot soapy water and your coffee will taste much better.

when cleaning a coffee pot with vinegar, I found that if you put 1/4 cup clear vinegar in a 10 cup pot and fill it up with water than pour in maker with no filter and turn it on, that seams to clean it real good, than run 3 to 4 pots of tap water through the maker and you should have great tasting coffee once again
