Because she didn't realize that the worthless baby-sitter hadn't picked you up and you were trying to find your way home at 5 years of age.. Talk about messed up memories. But at least the school didn't worry about a Kindergartner trying to walk home by themselves. Some things have gotten better over the years.

I remember I was a walker in elementary school back in the 60s (over a mile away). I don't remember the walks though - must not have been too traumatic. My mom didn't pick me up because she didn't drive back then and we had one car.

Yeah I was on my way to school walking and a car splashed me,had to go to school soaking wet and cold .It sucked!Also I lived with my Granny at the time and she didn't drive.

now no longer in basic terms do i come across the sound of rain relaxing yet i admire the heady scent of rain. I additionally think of of the sound of rain indoors the evening helps set the temper; now no longer some thing like making love along with your gf all nigh as quickly as you pay interest it raining outdoors. this is romantic.

I remember putting on a raincoat and going out to play in the rain. I loved the smell of new rain.

i remember walking home from school in freezing rain and getting home to hear my step-mom yell at me...of coarse she wouldn't pick me up...and she would NEVER make hot chocolate for me. i hate her.

no i was in the lake one time and it was sooo nice and sunny then in an instant it was dark and stormy and i had to get out fast and on the way home a large tree branch got struck and skinned my arm, i woulda been out if it had hit me on the head.
