If the engine is turning over but the car won't start, the list of problems that could be causing it is endless. Don't spend money on something that may or may not fix the problem. Take it in to your local mom-and-pop mechanic (most of them give free estimates) and have them look at it. Could be something as simple as needing a tune-up. You won't know until you have someone look at it. Ask around -- word of mouth is the best advertising, and I'm sure there's got to be at least one mechanic in your area who does good work and doesn't try to trick people into authorizing unnecessary repairs.

If it just clicks when you turn the key, its a dead battery. If it trys to turn over then it would be something else. My car had the same problem a few months ago. It ended up being a wire that shorted out the fuse fore my fuel pump. So first of all check the fuel pump fuse, if its blown the little piece of metal inside of it will look like its melted. Other wise it could also be the fuel pump itself.

Dead battery? Did you leave a light on? Alternater bad? No Spark? Do you have gas? There can be numerous amounts of explenations. You first problem might be that it is a cavalier. kidding. but yeah, does it make any noise? Are you in the midwest or north where it is freaking cold!?

It's broken!

Could be the starter, could be the alternator, could be a low (almost dead) battery. Try jump starting it. If you can jump it, drive to your nearest parts store and they can test it for you (Free) and some will even install the new part.
