My partner and I live in a one bed flat, and are on economy 7, I am paying around £35 a week on electricity and no one seems to want to help me. I cant afford to keep paying this much and wondered if anyone knows who I can contact. We are both at work during the day and I dont understand how it can be so high?

I have just spoken to my landlord who says its most likely that the economy seven has been disconnected so I am paying a premium rate for the electric I use - Iam phoning the electric board to insist they send someone round - thank you for confirming I am paying far too much!

I would have expected a one bed. flat to be about £15.00-£20.00 per week. You dont say what you cook on or heat water with. Are you on a PP meter? Who is your supplier? Time to change maybe? I have a 3 bed flat and it's £55.00 per month.

If you are on southern electric i wouldn't even bother to ring them, we live in a 3 bedroomed middle terrace house and were paying a direct debit of £100 a month during summer and winter. Every so often the company would send us a bill for about £500 because aparently we were using more than what they estimated. Both my partner and i were out all day at work too and we didn't understand this either. Eventually we asked to be put on a pre payment meter and now even during the winter months we are only putting on around £20 per week, i'm sure they were ripping us off then just palming off our questions with bulls***. Go to www.energywatch.co.uk and they will answer your questions and give you advice.

you shouldn,t be paying that much at all unless you have every appliance in the house on every minute of the day including the oven and heaters.Phone the company right away because something is definateley wrong.Or go to your citizens advice beareau.Take all the bills and all the reciepts to them.they should send someone out very quickly.REMEMBER DONT DELAY PHONE THE COMPANY TODAY AND DEMAND AN ANSWER!!!.
I HAVE A THREE BEDROOM HOUSE AND ONLY USE £15 A WEEK THATS IN THE WINTER AS WELL

Funnily enough, we just had our electric bill come through - for a 4 person student house, all running computers and music and lights constantly, our quarterly bill was about £90.

That is truly ridiculous what you're paying. I would phone them up and demand that they send someone round to see what is wrong with your meter, and check if someone isn't syphoning off electricity some how.

wow that is a scarey amount for electricity, have you spoken with the elcetricity board, i lived in a two bedroom house and i paid less than ten pounds a week, i have now moved to a large apartment, and even though its much bigger, i still only paid 100quid for a quarter, we have a dish washer now too and we use th washing machine every single day now, so i think there is something definately wrong with you paying so much, complain until your blue in the face, speak to local councilors speak to anyone who might help. that is an attrocious amount to be spending, fight as hard as you can to get it sorted.

also make sure your neighbours arent running their electricity off yours, this has happened in different places i have heard off.

Good luck

I pay about 60 dollars a month, so that seems to be able four times what you pay. You need to stop giving home x-rays and arc welding everything nonstop. I also recommend you turn off the MRI machine when not in use, and discontinue your Frankenstein electro-experiments.
