go & meet someone you've met on the internet?

What are your thoughts on it?
Besides all the dangers... would you encourage a friend to go & will you go?

Hey, Mercaydees. Whazzap? Long time no talk the nonsense with you!

I don't encourage meeting someone you've met on the net, because there are lots of crazies out there. I suggest you do what I did and keep a safe distance. I've met tons of wonderful people on Yahoo Answers and keep in contact with them whenever I get the chance.

I mail Diezel all my recent pics and have even spoken to him back in South Africa. We talk on messenger with our webcams on, but we've never met in person. He has his own website and there is a nice little pic of me on there as well. Most of the others I've lost contact with, but e-mail them sometimes through Yahoo Answers and they reply. We keep it that way and maybe that's good, because we have stayed good friends in doing so.

I don't want to be disappointed in my expectations and that's why I prefer the privacy. I've given three people on Yahoo Answers my true e-mail address and one of them became a real nuisance. E-mailing every bit of junk he got a hold of. I eventually had to block the damn fella. The other two stayed good friends though. But I've never met them. I even know their hopes and dreams.

I'm a pretty boring guy, but many told me they love my Q and A's. I'm fat and have big ears, but Diezel thinks I look like some handsome singer. Go figure! I'm almost certain that meeting someone in person will disappoint you.

Don't do it!

It's ironic, Mercaydees, but here in the open questions and through Yahoo Answers mail one often gets to know people better than some people who have had real contact for many years but never really take time to talk. There's something special about writing that exposes something about the writer that other means of communication don't.
I've also had mail contact with a few answerers here and some I would like to meet and some not. Not because of fear for the latter but just coz I didn't seem to connect with that person or disagreed on important things. One kinda get's a feeling who one can trust and whether or not there is mutual respect.
Yes, like meeting any "new" people the place to do it would be somewhere public.
Giving out personal info like one's real name or e-mail address is risky and one should be very reserved in doing it. Only when one gets the feeling the other person can be trusted with it.

I've met a couple of people from the internet. Depends on the situation to say whether it's a good or bad thing. I wouldn't encourage anyone to do it. Not a good idea.

Only if she's a vivacious brunette with hazel eyes!!!

Sorry about that. It was hard to resist the wisecrack

Actually, I've gone to meet several people that I met on the Internet but its not something that I would recommend that most people do.

P.S. And no, I'm not flirting since I suspect I'm old enough to be your grandfather.

I actual have listened to their music and that i do compared to them because their music and lyrics are very unoriginal. I advise in case you fairly pay interest to their lyrics their isn't some thing deep about them purely overplayed cliches. And in case you've not met them there is no way in case you recognize they're effective human beings. maximum musicians are fairly effective human beings, maximum don't have superstar status although. The Jonas Brothers like another Disney musicians do purely even if Disney tells them to do. extremely some human beings like Hilary Duff signal in for appearing and then Disney tells them they ought to sing reason it is about creating wealth. maximum musicians have little money and hence no longer about the money. yet who's favourite with thats purely assumptions, i'm no longer someone to hate on them. purely explaining reason you requested.

if they sounded legite... but it would have to be at a public place, like a mall. i'd take someone along, just for security...and make sure i have this persons details written and given to the friend.

but in reality, i woudnt dare... i'm engaged and happy and that would be cheating i suppose...lol!!! and in current world, with all the psychos loose it would be smart of me to avoid getting into such a situation or even agreeing to meet strangers over the net...

I would, but I'd be very wary of the situation! I'd just play along with the person for a while till I actually reveal who I really am! Do you understand where I'm getting at? lol
