Try uninstalling all mice and reboot the PC and try from there.

The drivers are likely conflicting so the mouse does not work. Try completly removing the old and new mouse rebooting and trying from there.

First of all, you don't need to use the installation disc. All USB devices are plug and play, even the wireless ones. The only reason to use the installation disc is to install the extra features, enable hotkeys and configure the extra buttons on the mouse, I never bothered with them.

I have found that at least with Logitech, their software tends to be on the bloatware side, I have no need or use for it and don't want it, like I said, I don't use the special keys.

Also, you may need to reset the connection between the base station and mouse as it may have lost its connection. Try that and see if it works. Even if you can't "install" it using the disc that came with it, Windows should still see it whether or not that works.

That is, if we are talking about Windows XP and Microsoft or Logitech devices. I won't deal with lower versions of Windows in these matters nor will I deal with off-brands, because... well... these things happen a lot with those.

Sounds like corrupted USB drivers. Try the following: 1) Try booting into safe mode (F8, just before the Windows XP logo appears at boot up) and running System Restore. Will only work if keyboard/mouse work in Safe Mode. Failing that... 2) Run a repair install of Windows by booting from the CD and follow all the usual steps to install Windows. When it gets to the stage where it asks you which partition to install to it will give you the option to repair the existing installation.

Maybe there is something wrong with the mouse if the keyboard is plugged into a usb. You might try going out to microsoft downloads and download a newer usb driver. I have had problems with mine too. My mouse would work but if I tried to print through the usb wouldn't work until I downloaded a new driver. I will include a link. Hope this helped.

I plugged a usb mouse/keyboard bundle into my laptop and it works fine.

Are you plugging the mouse in seperately? If so - do you have additional items plugged into USB ports too? Printers, hubs, routers, or anything else might be interfering. Try plugging nothing but the keyboard and mouse in first. And if it works, then experiment (and you might have to leave something unplugged - or get a USB hub to allow more items to be plugged in). Try moving stuff between the front and back USB ports if you have them.

had same problem...best fix i found with the wireless combo was plug the keyboard usb into usb, and for the mouse use the usb to pin connector for the mouse and plug this into your mouse port.
