I would go to a pound shop and get a couple or three little things. The selection may still be fairly good.

Here's something creative that will be appreciated and you will have fun doing:
Make up a crossword puzzle and have all the hints be personal inside moments and jokes that only you two would know about. Put it on a poster board and add some clipart and some pictures to it!
The crossword puzzle could be time consuming and a bit frustrating ... you could do the same idea with a WORDSEARCH or WORDFIND puzzle.
Put your computer skills to work! Use Excel, get clipart from Yahoo Images Search, copy them, and reformat them, use a gluestick to put on posterboard.
Use graph paper, and pictures from magazines if you are not as good on the computer, and it will give it more of a homemade

buy an ice cube tray that makes heart shaped ice cubes (flexible is best), a big bar of milk chocolate, one of white and one of dark, melt the chocolate for about 30 seconds in the microwave, put a bit of the melted milk choc in the bottom of the ice cube tray, put in freezer for a couple of mins to set, put a bit of the melted white choc as the next layer, let that set then repeat with the dark choc, when its all set remove the chocolates from the tray and put in a small gift box on some red white or pink tissue paper. they look really good and he should appreciate the effort that went into it.

keep track of each time you think of him today - 8:36am, 9:22am, etc. for the rest of the day - and what you thought about, even mundane stuff, like we should rent this movie, or i wish you were here to open this jar - use a paint pen to decorate a homemade card with the times and your fave picture inside.

its my boyfriends birthday tomorrow
i had like £3 to spend on him im so broke after xmas and everything
i went down to my local shop bought some ingrediants, came to £2.50 and i had a few bits at home
and whilst hes at work tomorrow morning im gonna bake him some little fairy cakes! :) its personal! and i know he will like them
