I am currently trying to conceive. The problem is my cycle is between 21 and 25 days though usually 21. So I cant really pinpoint when I am due to ovulate. Thing is I have a clear egg-white like discharge at the moment, does this mean I am ovulating? We have had unprotected sex since the 8th February (my last period was 2nd Feb)

I have always had a short cycle and I have a 3 year old son so I know I can get pregnant.

You ovulate 14 days before your NEXT period - so you ovulate on either day 7, 8, 9 10 or 11. The discharge you mention indicates ovulation is about to happen. Sperm can live for up to 5 days in the body so if you make sure you are having sex from practically the beginning of your cycle and then until about day 13 you will have all the possible time you could be fertile covered. It is best to have sex in advance of ovulation by a few days so the sperm have more chance of getting where they need to be and are ready waiting for the egg once it is released.
Another way of detecting ovulation is by checking inside for the position of your cerivix. When you are not fertile it will be low & hard & feel like touching the tip of your nose. When you ovulate it is harder to reach & softer, you can tell the difference after you have observed it in both ways! Make sure you have privacy to do this & very clean hands. Try resing one foot on the low seat or squating down.
If you want to pin point it more exactly (which is harder with irregular cycles) then maybe try using an ovulation kit from your chemist.
I hope all this information helps you! All the best.

It is generally accepted that the time from ovulation to menstruation is always 12 to 16 days, whether your cycle is short, average or long. I found this for you - hope it helps: It is certainly more difficult to predict your fertile times if your periods are irregular. With a long cycle it is less easy to conceive because you will be releasing an egg less frequently than a woman who has a 28 day cycle. With a 44-day cycle, a woman would ovulate only eight times a year. In the same period, a woman with a 28-day cycle would ovulate 12 times. The only certain thing in a menstrual cycle is that a woman's period begins around 14 days after she has ovulated. Until you have had your period (and then know you're not pregnant) you can't work out when ovulation took place. To determine your likely fertile times, look carefully at the dates of your periods over the last year. If they are totally erratic it may prove unhelpful, but if, for example, your cycle varies between 40 and 46 days, then you will be ovulating between day 26 and day 32. So this would mean your fertile time occurs between day 22 and day 36.

Ok, so your next period is due to start on Feb. 23-27th. Ovulation happens 10-16 days before the start of your next period which could have been as early as Feb. 7th or as late as Feb. 17th. So right around the 12th would be most likely. One thing does strike me about your cycles--women who have really short cycles often have what is called a luteal phase defect. After ovulation it takes on average 6-12 days for the fertilized egg to travel back to the uterus and implant and women with luteal phase defects often have trouble getting pregnant because the time from ovulation to period (the luteal phase) is too short to give the egg time to implant. You should consider charting your basal body temps to make sure you are in fact ovulating and that the second half of your cycle--the luteal phase--is at least 10+ days. Usually eggwhite mucus does indicate ovulation.

The mucus you described is a sure sign that you are ovulating. Your egg will only survive for about 24 hours so I would make today a baby making day.
