The issue isn't merely Israel. Our preoccupation with Israel and our persistent meddling in the governments of Arab countries (driven by our insatiable desire for middle eastern oil) are both largely post-WW2 phenomena.
While we had meddled in the middle east before, this grew to new proportions in the 1950's as Eisenhower's CIA pursued an aggressive program of regime change - including Iran, Iraq, and Syria. Dictators sympathetic to U.S. oil interests were installed, including Saddam and the Shah of Iran. This fomented tremendous popular unrest. The U.S. also backed dictatorships in Saudi Arabia, UAE, and other gulf states - also unpopular.
Islamic fundamentalism - ironically largely financed by Saudi Wahhabists - grew to exploit this dissatisfaction with U.S. hegemony.
Now the Israel/Palestine issue is also important - but divisive as it is in Arab states, it wouldn't nearly carry the same weight were the U.S. not as hypocritical in its treatment of Israeli expansionism and human rights violations as it is with transgressions of Arab states.

OK, let's consider what's right in front of our faces. How about starting with the Koran, which states it is the duty of every Muslim during a Jihad (Holy war) to convert infidels (non-Muslims) to Islam, and those who refuse to convert are to be killed? After that, let's listen to all the Muslims who said The Pope should be put to death for his comments about the Islam religion? Finally, let's take a very close look at the four men who piloted the planes on 9/11 -- all upper class, all college educated, and all well-traveled. Hmmm, do these guys sound like the disgruntled, illiterate have-nots that the mainstream media has told you make up the ranks of the radical militant Islamic extremist groups? See, there is a reason Israel has nukes. They started developing them during the first Arab-Israeli War after the U.N. rightfully granted the Jews the sovereign territory that later became Israel and the Arabs decided they didn't like it -- in fact, they decided they wanted to eliminate every Jew in the region. So here are the Jews, who endured the genocide under Hitler where more than 15 million of them were put to death for no other reason than the fact that they were Jews, they're now back in their homeland thanks to the U.N. but can't defend themselves from attacks on all sides because the U.N. isn't giving them any support, so in the final analysis they're sitting in Israel facing annhilation. Do you have any idea how close Israel came to hitting Damascus and Cairo with nukes? The U.S. stepped in just in time to avert World War III. Stop spreading liberal propaganda. Israel is NOT the aggressor. Israel has been trying to mind its own business ever since it became a country in 1949. It's the Arab nations surrounding Israel and the Palestinians who wrongfully annexed the West Bank who are instigating the violence. Israel only responds if attacked, and believe me, if the U.S. responded to terrorist attacks in the same manner Israel does, we would have NO PROBLEMS AT ALL with terrorists.

Read this then go do a few searches on the history of Islam. They were enemies of the world from the start and their history is written in blood.
If Israel has nuclear weapons then I think they have more than amply displayed their right to have them by not using them when they have been attacked. I see no such intent of restraint in Iran's leaders.
Yes Americans are always attacked in Arab countries. Yet Arabs are not attacked here. You think that shows we are in the wrong? Tell me why Arabs choose to leave their countries to live here in such great numbers while the number of Americans that immigrate to the Mid-East is so low. You seem to be terribly confused.

The Arab countries barely existed prior to the creation of Israel. They were mostly tribal federations which were turned into nations by the European powers, just like Israel was created.
Real good point, above, about Barbary Pirates.

You are not making sense.
And yes, we had Arab enemies prior to the creation of Israel. The Barbary States were Muslim Pirates terrorizing American merchants at sea. They saw it as a religious calling, demanding tribute from people of the word, as demanded by their faith. Israel did not exist at this time, yet we were at war with Muslim terrorists and priates.
In WW2, before Israel existed as a nation-state, Arabs joined with the Axis powers to hamper Allied activities in the Mid-east. The Shah of Iran, and his fellow Persians, assisted the Allies against the Arabs during ww2. The same battle-lines were also drawn in ww1. Again, Arab enemies before the creation of Israel.
The Arab problem is not related to Israel, as it has existed before Israel. Israel is gasoline on the fire, to be sure, but Arab and America have had problems in the past streching to shortly after the founding of our nation. The recent development is the involvement of the Persians on the side of the Arabs instead on the side of the Americans and Europeans. We have jimmy Carter to thank for that. Thanks to the anti-semite Jimmy Carter, and his utterly incompetent presidency, Khomeni finished off the Shah and destroyed our oldest and strongest ally in the region...Iran.

Israel didn't make terrorism. Islam is a religion of hate and intolerance. They have been fighting a war to take over the world since the 1930's They want to take over the middle east and control the oil. Thus crippling the world economy. And when we are weak and starving they will offer to allow us to convert to their religion in order to stabilize our economy. I know it sounds crazy but they don't think like us .They feel their God will help them defeat the infidels. Columbus ran into America while looking for a safe route to India. They could have walked but didn't want to be killed by Muslims .They were evil killers back then.
