This will be the 6th surgery between my twin Boys.. they are 5.
Anyway, I am upset about this one ... I am afraid if him going under anesthia.
He has been under several times before and all has gone well. I am just afraid that something will go wrong this time.
What are the chances that something will go wrong if he has done great all the other times?

It is surgery in his nose. It is only about a half hour surgery.

My son (a surviving twin) had surgeries from the time he was born until he was 10. He, too, had to have anesthesia each time. If your person who puts him out for the operation is someone who has done it before, and you know this person is capable, try not to worry. If this is a new person doing it, things should still turn out fine. Pediatric surgeions are really specialist, and I would not worry about your sons. Obviously, after 5 previous surgeries, the specialists are very careful with your sons. I always feared the surgeries, but, they were necessary, and my son had them to repair many things in his body. I'm very lucky, blessed, that my son's many surgeries turned out just fine. Perhaps, you are feeling the anxiety of your sons' fears, as they get older, they realize more of what is happening. Try your best not to convey to them that you are worried. (I'm sure you already do this).........just do what must be done...........and, believe that everything will be done safely and 'fix' one more thing for your sons. I have faith in the doctors, and you must, too..........we do what must be done to make sure our sons live a normal life. I hope you let me know how the surgeries turn out.............I really am interested. I've been there, and I know the fear that comes to parents...when our children must have surgeries that put them 'out'. Be happy your sons DO have something that CAN be fixed!

you have not mentioned what type of surgery, major or minor. the risk of complications during and after anesthesia depends on the length of the procedure and blood loss etc. general anesthesia is very safe and the patient is closely monitored during and after it. specially if it is a planned procedure.
