Someone ran into the back of my Daewoo Matiz at the weekend, the back bumper is bashed and the rear floor has been crushed.

How much do you think it'll cost to repair

Here's the full story

I was at a roundabout and stopped to clear my window because i couldn't see clearly, the car that hit me was very close behind. I went to pull away and stalled. I pulled on my handbreak (the road tilts slightly so i didn't want to roll) Put it in to first, dipped clutch was about to start engine when he came into the back of me very hard.
My sister and mother were in the car, my sister was in the back hit here head and would have broke her neck she didn't have her seatbelt on. Me and my mam were ok.
The bloke who went into me is trying to blame me and want's to go through the insurance, but he was to close, to fast and driving without due care and attention.

I've been told it's not my fault as he went into the back of me.

Has anyone been in this situation? What did you do?

What was i doing stopping?

Learn to read, i said i couldn't see out of my window so cleared it, you can't really keep control of a moving car and wipe a window and i don't pull out on roundabouts if i can't see what's coming. it took 30 seconds max and i couldn't go anywhere for traffic any way.

You were stationary and he ran into the back of you - so I would say it was his fault. He shouldn't have been so close that he could not make an emergency stop.

You should let it go through insurance. I recently had what appeared initially to be minor damage to my car caused by someone running into my stopped car - the cost of repair came to over £2500!

IT IS NOT YOUR FAULT, if any one hits you from behind it is straight away there fault cos of un due care and attention, unless you are going in reverse then it is your fault i now i have just been to court for it, anyway the insurance will fight that for you.your car if it is damaged like you say it is and you are fully comp they will right it off and offer you money, but make sure no one has got wip lash cos they can get a lot for it.

if you run into a stationary car or the vehicle in front of you in this country the law says you are to blame (no excuses accepted) it's automatically defined as driving without due care and attention pay for repairs yourself and sue the driver in the county court you have witnesses to the incident. if the other driver is uninsured put in a claim for costs and injury to the mib they'll pay 80%

it is partly youre fault because you shouldnt have moved off before youre windows were clear and you certainly shouldnt have stopped on a roundabout!i assume your windows were misted up or iced. you should let the insurance take care of it, its not like the old rules where if someone goes into the back of you its instantly there fault the whole thing is looked at.

i have had the same happen to me recently, let him go through insurance, but when your insurance asks you, dont say it was your fault, just say he was too close and was driving without due care and attention, anyone who goes into the back of you is at fault. and the insurance companies know this so dont worry about it. And in regards to repairs, your insurance should sort that out if you are fully comp on insurance, but if your 3rd party fire and theft, then you are liable for all repairs to your vehicle, and your looking at £1,000+, if boot of car is damaged. or if the total damage, when you take it in for valuation through your insurance, is more than the value of your vehicle then the insurance company will write your car off.. if this all makes sense then hope all goes well if not then email me and ill tell your more in details.. mo3_lys@yahoo.co.uk...

You were stationary when the accident happened so the blame is with the other driver, I hope you got all his details, name, address, insurers etc. If so get in touch with your insurers and inform them of the facts. Also contact his insurers and ask them for a claim form as you want to make a claim.
