I attended a library lecture where the premise was that the more money a man has, the more he will act out when his "functions" begin to fail him because he can afford it and the wealthier a group of people the less emphasis that they place on commitment. . Do you believe that this is true? Has this been your experience?

Sure. The more money you have to compensate your lacking in other areas - the better. Perhaps this is why you see company CEOs and other wealthy execs living double lives - they can afford more that one!

For overly rich men this may be the case. Also, for many of the rest of us who aren't what one would call multi-millionaires but rather financially secure it will differ from one individual to the other.
I once think i was caught up in a mid-life crisis shortly after i retired from the military. I went bought me a red convertible, started getting involved with women half my age and basically just doing stuff i'd done in my early 20's.

I found that the more involved i became with younger women, the less desire i had for commitment. Cause i always spend time analyzing myself. I realized this course i was on was somewhat self-destructive.

I forced myself back to my original lifestyle more be-fitting a man of my age. Although, i still spend time with women half my age, we are only friends, i prefer commitment to women closer to my own age.

While some men may like being seen in public with a young beautiful young lady on their arm, it's just not something i do anymore. Cause i was dating women younger than my own daughters. Intimacy was and still is great but ya know, sometimes you just have to realize what one is doing and how ridiculous it is percieved to be.

At 52 I just don't want to end up starting another family at my age. If i got one of these young ladies pregnant right now, i'd be 70 when the kid graduated from high school.

As far as functions failing me, well i fixed that problem a few years back by getting an implant in my tool, and i can outlast any man out there. Ladies love it. But i realize it was probably something i should not have done.

Hi --

A while back we reported on academic research that shows that infidelity increases with:

* "stronger sexual interests (aka "sex drive"),
* more permissive sexual values,
* lower ... satisfaction with their union,
* weaker ... ties to partner,
* and greater sexual opportunities"

so other things being equal, if he has more sexual opportunities (b/c he has more money) there's a higher chance he'll cheat. But I don't think wealth per se means they're unfaithful.

On the other hand, the divorce rate in Hollywood is pretty high ...

I don't know. I do know that when I was a blue collar worker, the men may have some woman in the alley and then go home to their wives. In the business world, they leave their wives and just substitute on woman for another. Could be true.

Seems like it. That's why when some men finally "make it" in their careers, they leave the woman who loved, supported, and helped him in all ways, for a sports car and a twenty year old.
