The clock was turning hours ahead and behind until we replaced it, maybe it is time for a new coffee maker too?

When I was in the Middle East, I experience that problem a lot. The cause was the fine sand build up inside of the computer chassis, which diminishes the fan's ability to cool the CPU. When the CPU reaches a certain temperature, the computer shuts itself down in order to prevent damage. The accumulation of household dust can cause the same effect to a computer. A simple remedy is to open the computer chassis and blow out the dust with a can of compressed air. Make sure you remove the dust from the fan. You can get a can of compressed air from Staples. Later.

If you mean the hotplate which keeps coffee warm is turning on and off, this is normal operation. This would cause brewing if there was coffee in the filter and water in the reservior.

If coffee and water are being moved to the machine by telekenesis before the machine turns on, then it is probably a poltergeist who drinks coffee. This might explain why ghosts can't sleep at night.

well, you could call ghost busters, but that might be a bit expensive. here's an old family remedy that works on ghost possessed appliances such as: coffee makers, stoves, computers, garage door openers, SUV's and several brands of vibrators.
heres what you must do:
take one tea spoon of ectoplasm, dump it into the toilet, and deficate upon it, from there you must take one M7 caseless SMG and shoot the frick out of the back of the toilet( be sure no to hit the bowl though, as this will cause complictaions later)
you must then use the cheat code for infinite health on your microwave(in case you forgot, its left, right, up,up, left, down ,right, down) take the ectoplasm, pour it into your cofee maker and recite the incantation found on page 275b of the tibithian book of the dead. then drink the ectoplasm and spit it to the north, south, east, and west, then proceed to urintate on about 17% of your house. after about 3 days of fasting and sealing your anus shut with military grade super glue, your cofee maker should be in perfect working order.

Its probably the on/off switch any type of conductive build-up internally, typically moisture can cause this. when you push the on/off button your just making a quick contact which actives a times relay switch. Is your coffee pot located near your sink or dishwasher? the steam from the hot water from either can do this.
