what your feeling is natural its the feeling of a chapter closing and a new dawn beginning you morn the loss of a best friend much like that of the death of a loved one, the need to reach out but not being able to or not wanting to doesn't stop the aching you feel.

you have to think of the positives and try to go forth, you really cant say to someone I'm here for you but don't want to see you,

its sort of like trying to end something with no guilt or regret on your part and thats never going to happen, all we can hope for is as the pages of our lives turn and the chapters come to life that we can find peace and love along the way. you need to distance your self and try the 3 step method it really does work
first you try not to call for one day no contact nothing - you ll want to you ll feel that you need to but just as long as you think and dont do
second you try the next day the same thing
third day write a letter to the person tell them everything that is wrong the whole thing be honest 100% get it all out write all down let it flow allow your feelings become words allow the pain and sorrow a voice and put that pen to paper, then seal the letter place it under your mattress or somewhere safe wait 2 days, open the letter and read it you ll tend to find that most of the sadness you felt is on that paper and you don't feel it anymore it will help you to move on you can send the letter if you like however i find that the feelings in the letter that you express don't rqiure them to know or see it will make you feel so much better

give it ago, sometimes the past is just that not matter how fresh it is

Why bother. If he makes you so angry, just forget about it. This sounds more like it is your ego which needs jacking off then anything to do with your friend.
