There's shootings and innocent dead people every day. And don't say a knife can be dangerous, too. Most of the time it's guns.

The Second Amendment. Also, many people want to have guns for protection against criminals, and for hunting.

If Government issued a total gun ban, how do you think it could possibly be implemented? The only people who would give up their guns would be the very people who do NOT and would never be likely to use them for any wrongful purpose. Do you imagine for a moment that all the bad guys would rush to the nearest "Gun Collection Station" to hand in their weaponry? The result of any such ban - even if it could be totally implemented which is virtually impossible - would be that the "bad guys" would be the only ones left with guns. I am sure they would be greatly appreciative of that.
We keep hearing statistics about the "bad things that guns do" But what is always missing is the other side of that equation. Nobody has ever tried to compile statistics of the hundreds of thousands of people who have actually avoided death or injury at the hands of a criminal BECAUSE they w ere not helpless but had a tool of self defence - a legitimately owned gun. We know this happens a lot because the reports are made. The only problem is that those reports were never compiled into actual records.
My husband and I have both, over time, in separate incidents, had an experience in which there is no doubt in our minds that today we would very likely just be another statistic as the victim of a crime of violence, but for the fact that we had that tool of defence. On no occasion was it necessary to fire the gun as it turned out. The drawing and showing of it was sufficient to alter the direction that particular situation was taking.
Good, decent people everywhere think, and dream about a wonderful condition of life in which there were NO "bad guys" NO crimes of violence, and everybody just living in a marvellous ideal world of friendship and goodwill to all. Well, I seriously doubt that will ever come about, and for sure not in any of our lifetimes. Therefore, while the criminals and crazies are out there, perpetrating their violence, the rest of us should absolutely have the right to be able to defend ourselves against them.
Yes, there are more "innocent dead people" every day; not killed BY guns, but by criminals using guns, and if the villains were the only ones left with them, you can bet your socks those numbers would skyrocket.

Three reasons: One, the second amendment to the Constitution of the United States of America states we have the right to bear arms. Two, you got people out there like me who like to hunt. And three, if someone breaks into my house with a gun on him, I want to have something a little stronger than a baseball bat or a knife.

The last murder in this town was with a knife. We aren't as anti-constitutional as some states... no waiting period. This translates into the greater availability of firearms according to your thesis. The last shooting was justified because bad guys were breaking into a good guys home.

If you don't like firearms you don't have to own any, that's your right. But according to Roe v. Wade there is a Right to choice and a Right to Privacy. Don't push your beliefs on everyone else and we won't push ours on you.

The Second Amendment of the United States Constitution expressly protects American's rights to bear arms.

In some countries guns are banned. Not America though - some people say it's a constitutional right to bear arms.

Because when guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns.

And it's not a Constitutional right, it's a Constitutional protection of a right. Your rights don't come from the Constitution. If there's one thing I would want to teach any high school government class, it's that.

Guns are banned
in countries where the poeple are not free

More people are killed yearly in automobiles than with guns, why aren't auto's banned?
Because we live in a FREE society same reason food is not banned, more people die of bad diets than die in car accidents and killed by guns

You can ban guns and all that's gonna happen is that the innocent people will lose their form of protection and the criminals will still have guns because the guns they get are stolen or unlicensed, etc etc! There is no way to find every gun and destroy it!

Because the NRA gives a lot of money to certain legislators and money controls congress. I can understand having a gun if you hunt. But there is absolutely NO reason whatsoever, to allow people to buy weapons such as Uzis, machine guns, etc.
