can you use a normal pc and printer - and were in the nw can i buy the consumables -any info will be grat eful

The whole point of a plotter is that it's not a normal printer. It uses pens to draw lines, rather than putting spots of ink onto the paper. As for consumables, get them from the internet - then you don't have to worry about where you are....

Plotters used to be specialised printing machines for large format line drawings that uses individual pens. These days plotters no longer use individual pens. They are instead either very similar to inkjet printers or laser printers. They are still however large format printers, printing on rolls of paper up to A0 widths.

You can use normal printers and PCs to print drawings on CAD, as long as the scale at which you want the printed drawing to be can be accommodated by the printer. Obviousy, you can't use an A4 size printer if you want a drawing to be printed at a scale that needs it to be on an A1 sheet.

Where you get consumables depends on the printer - if it's a normal printer any high street electronics/computer shop would have them.
