Yes, they are the best British band ever because they have had an influence over every part of the music industry. Everybody has heard of the Beatles and not everybody has heard of The Who, Led Zeppelin, the Yardbirds and other British bands.

Yes! Just listen to their albums from the later years. They were very experimental and talented. They had songs that were very different and moving. I'm not saying that the other brit bands weren't experimental or talented (I am a big fan of them too) but I do believe that The Bealtes are number 1. They made a huge impact! People still make a big deal over them years and years later and to this day they still have events, movies, etc dedicated to them or about them. I.E. - Cirque Du Soleil, Across the Universe (New 2007 movie), and The Fab Faux (Who are AMAZING by the way. If you're a Beatles fan and they're ever in your area I recommend you see them play - www.thefabfaux.com)

yes and no

What you do not know is who the Beatles really were and the huge effect they had on the world beyond their music.

I was a huge fan at the time. Now I see it all so differently. And I notice a lot of the bands people mention here would not have had their break had the Beatles not opened the door. Many of these bands had a "deal with the devil" . Jimmy Paige is a very well known member of the Church of Satan.

A few quotes:

"An outstanding example of social conditioning to accept change, even when it is recognized as unwelcome change by the large population group in the sights of Stanford Research Institute, was the "advent" of the BEATLES. The Beatles were brought to the United States as part of a social experiment which would subject large population groups to brainwashing of which they were not even aware."

"The phenomenon of the Beatles was not a spontaneous rebellion by youth against the old social system. Instead it was a carefully crafted plot to introduce by a conspiratorial body which could not be identified, a highly destructive and divisive element into a large population group targeted for change against its will. "

"The Beatles did a perfect job, or perhaps it would be more correct to say that Tavistock and Stanford did a perfect job, the Beatles merely reacting like trained robots "with a little help from their friends"--code words for using drugs and making it "cool." The Beatles became a highly visible "new type"-- more Tavistock jargon--and as such it was not long before the group made new styles (fads in clothing, hairstyles and language usage) which upset the older generation, as was intended. This was part of the "fragmentation-maladaptation" process worked out by Willis Harmon and his team of social scientists and genetic engineering tinkerers and put into action. "

" ...The newly-created group and its "lifestyle" swept millions of young Americans into the cult. American youth underwent a radical revolution without ever being aware of it, while the older generation stood by helplessly, unable to identify the source of the crisis, and thus reacting in a maladaptive manner against its manifestation, which were drugs of all types, marijuana, and later Lysergic acid, "LSD," so conveniently provided for them by the Swiss pharmaceutical company, SANDOZ, following the discovery by one of its chemists, Albert Hoffman, how to make synthetic ergotamine, a powerful mind-altering drug. The Committee of 300 financed the project through one of their banks, S. C. Warburg, and the drug was carried to America by the philosopher, Aldous Huxley. "

I was there folks. I was a serious Beatle fan and went to their first concerts and pushed them forward. I bought into it all like my generation did. Now we reap the whirlwind in social chaos.

But I still love the tunes.

Thing is... rapcrap continues the destruction of American culture today.

In terms of a band with the widest appeal, as well as influencing scores more bands to follow their example, the Beatles are the best. However, Led Zeppelin are better in terms of musical talent

Not the best British group ever, but the best in the world.

They revolutionised the music industry. The quality and variety of music they produced in a relatively short space of time is phenomenal.

No one has come close since and probably never will.

The only person who had a similar influence on changing the face of popular music is Buddy Holly

You half to judge their effect on pop culture of that era. It was tremendous. It effected hairstyles, music, the way bands and music were marketed and sold. No group has come close to having the same impact as the Beatles. Only Elvis in terms of influencing pop culture comes close. So it was not just the music it was the image of the Beatles that must be taken into account.

I think the Beatle's music is the best. Musicians will be doing remakes of so many of their songs long after we're gone. Their music has emmersed itself into the very core of all things music in a way the Rolling Stones and the Who's music did not. It was a very fortunate fluke indeed that these men got together with Brian Epstein and George Martin. Brian helped them achieve success, George made it all sound so good.
