i hv 7PC's on networking and and 5 of them hv win98 only on one pc it is win2000.

G'day,

I am assuming that the network connection is using ethernet cable.
1. Faulty cable. Swap the network cable with another PC and see if the problem move as well. If it is, change the cable. If not possible (b'cos it is laid underneath carpet or inside wall), change the connector head. Go to a computer shop to get the connector and cable crimp.
2. Faulty network card. If the problem stay after swapping the network cable, most likely the network card faulty. Try to delete the driver first, and reinstall the driver. If still the same problem, then replace the network card hardware.

you may have more than on econnection listed in the network connections area....its possible if you installed a nic card and also have a built-in lan....just disable the one you are not using. Also if you have them connected together or to the router it could be the wire connecting is loose, its also possible if you have them connected wirelessly that the adapter isn't finding the connection....if you select to repair the connection or open a command prompt and type ipconfig /renew....it may resolve the problem as well.
