I totally agree with you. The effects were great, and it still looks good today. I take it you mean the original Star Wars.

I have had this discussion with some of the people i work with, and came to the conclusion that i cannot name my favourite film. I have so many films that i love for different reasons, so I have tried to categorise my favourites-
Fantasy - The Lord of the Rings Trilogy - Fascinated by the book, and the films blew me away
Gangster - Once upon a time in America - Loved Robert De Niro in this,
Biography - Raging Bull, possibly the best ever performabce by a male actor.
'Love story' - gotta be A Knights Tale - its got everything,
Martial Arts - Ong Bak - Tony Jaa is jaw droppingly brilliant
War Film - Saving Private Ryan' - seen this about 10 times, and the first 20 minutes is probably the most realistic opening to a war film ever made.
Western - Tombstone is another film i have seen 15-20 times, and i will never get fed up with it. There is just something about the performance of Val Kilmer that makes this such a good film.
Comedy - Has to be Blazing Saddles, saw it again at christmas and i still laughed so much.
Science Fiction - Blade (all 3 of them)
Action - Leon - Jean Reno is brilliant in this
Dance/Musical - Billy Elliott - fan bloody tastic
There, and i still never mentioned Kill Bill 1&2, Glory, Shawshank Redemption, Usual Suspects, Last of the Mohicans.
Hope this helps convince some others that picking just one film when there have been so many fantastic ones made over the years is not easy.

Indiana Jones!! Probably for the same reason you chose Star Wars, it's pretty much the first film I remember seeing, fav Indiana Jones film would have to be The Last Crusade, but I'm dreading them making a forth one... I don't want to see an oap Indiana Jones!

Pulp Fiction. None of the script is wasted, every line is a gem. Strong characters, all portrayed with good insight, excellent storytelling, brilliant use of music. Truly a modern classic.
