If I were asked not to push the button I would not, If I were told in a authoritative voice not to push the button I would out of defiance.

Is it a big Red button...or shiny with big letters around it saying "Do not Push this Button"???
If so.. Yes.
Is it a big button in a plane saying "ejector seat" over it?
If so... depends if I'm wearing a parachute.
Or is there a big slice of Chocolate fudge cake next to the button?
If so... what button? I want Cake!

why build a button if you cannot push it. why not just not have a button there. save a lot of worries that would. but in answer to your question then yes i would push it a few times just to make sure.

The answers to the question depends on two things. A) If I pressed the button would I get a cookie? and B) Is the button surrounded by signs saying danger, risk of electrocution etc? If A) is correct the answer is yes (I can't resist a free cookie) and if the answers B) then my answer is no (though I might trick someone else to press it to see what happens).

No. There's usually a reason why you're not supposed to push the button.

Depends.... If those who told me not to push the button just telling me for fulfilling their own self-satisfaction only and not for my own goodness, then I will push the button anyway. But if they told me not to push the button because it could endanger me somehow and because they truly care for me, then i listen to what they say.

Yes. I went to rent an old Victorian house once and the man said we should go and have a look around...I was just about to open the cellar door when the man reappeared and almost threw himself at me. He said 'If you rent the house, this room will be locked - no-one is allowed down there'. I IMMEDIATELY thought 'Yeess! The FIRST place I am gonna look is IN THAT CELLAR'! I think we all have a rebel streak...
