Exploring, going to the store at age 5 alone, walking to school alone?
Now that you're older...doesn't it seem like Mom and Dad were trying to get you kidnapped?

I vaguely remember such things. My parents never seemed particularly worried by the idea of me being kidnapped. They did sell me to the Gypsies, twice, but the Gypsies kept bringing me back, so they gave up on the idea altogether.
But then, these were the same people that gave me an empty box, for my seventh birthday, and told me it was an Action Man Deserter.
If you tell that to the young people of today, they just won't believe you.

no, it seems to me that they were trying to pertatce me from being kidnapped, this day and times it is not safe to walk the streets alone are even go to a mall to shop, people are crazy shot you for driving wrong. are you could be eating somewhere and they will come in and start shooting, you need to watch the news some times

i don't know what the folks were thinking letting us ride our bikes on that busy street........i remember being little and mom wasn't home and the neighbors were watching us and i fell in front of a truck with the bike good thing he missed me but i had all these knees and elbows bleeding and going back to the neighbor i was like 5 or 6. i think about that when i never let none of my kids on the road with bikes

I remember going places alone at 5, as my kids did....Either the perverts were hiding, or they didn't exist when my kids and I were small....We always had a password, in case someone tried to get them in the car, and a scream and run plan....but it just wasn't as scarey as now a days...

I remember going to the shops by myself for the first time aged 9, to buy blue tack. Nearly wet myself.

nope because back then we knew everyone in town and we didnt have the creeps like we do now
when i was a baby my mom would put me outside in the stroller or play pen and leave me out there while she did things inside the house

I can remember being 7 years old and walking to the store to buy my mother a carton of cigarettes....and the worst part is, they sold them to me with no questions asked! : P

I didn't walk to school, but I did walk to the store.
My moms was friends w/the owner and we would walk around there after she called and then the owner would call my moms when we left.

yeS! I WONT LET MY 5 YR OLD IN THE NEXT ROOM ALONE!!!!!if i wouldve got kidnapped, the kidnappers most likely would have brought me back though lol

I cannot imagine anyone wanting to kidnap me or anyone from my area. Lived in the boonies and dirt poor. lol
