I refuse to spend money on Valentines day. The price of flowers has rocketed sky-high, everything cost twice as much for instance one silly little gingerbread heart with some icing on it costs one pound fifty pence.
I will make my hubby a cake, maybe some cupcakes , some fudge and a nice meal, he gets a nice meal everyday anyway. I have not got a clue if i will get anything, don't really care but will probably get a chocolate or something. We don't like wasting money on something you can have any other day of the year anyway. You should tell someone you love them everyday not just one day a year. And you what are your plans?? :)))

When I was totally single on V-day (which was basically the last 5 years besides this year) I would also go out with my best guy friend...we'd do dinner dutch, bowling, movie, whatever else. Always a good time with no expectations! This year, I'm on the verge of becoming engaged and I have to work all day and be in class until 8 that night...blah!

Me and my hubby will spend nothing for each other on Valentines day, we never do, were not the sort of couple that only shows how much we love each other on one day a year, we do that everyday, I know hes my Valentine and I don't need a card to tell me, its all got out of hand now, commercialism at its best, people out there are going to be feeling stressed and upset because they think they have to follow like sheep just because its Valentines day, show you love all year round, not just one day.

I've spent £20 on a present, plus cards, and have been to get really nice food from our local deli to have a special meal at home. I've said to my husband NOT to buy flowers, as the prices pretty much double overnight, and I don't want to go out to a restaurant, and eat an over-priced set meal, surrounded by 100s of other couples being "romantic".

Yes it is a commerical event, but I wouldn't let the day go by without getting something for my partner...

On everything I would of spent about £60. (card, present, candles, new champagne glasses, etc)

None spent this year, no romance!
I may buy myself something though. At least I will get something I would like.
