For a number of reasons. Firstly, most PC games are developed using DirectX, which is only available on Windows and Xbox. More importantly, the Mac games market is quite small, as Apple's share of the PC market is still only around 4%-6%, and even within the demographic of Mac users, few people play games.

However, more games than you might realise do make it to Mac, particularly the big sellers. World of Warcraft, Quakes I-IV, Doom III, Halo, Unreal Tournament, Civilization, etc etc. Also, because Macs now run on Intel, there's nothing to stop you running the PC versions of games within an XP partition on your Mac.

They are based on different operating systems, different programs and levels of graphics. Generally the graphics, memory and user interface on the PC are either
1) lower specification
2) inconsistent.
3) used for other purposes

What does this mean? It means that a PC may not have as much RAM or the same type of joystick or other device that is needed to play the game. It is very hard to develop a game where you do not know what the machine that it will end up being played on is going to be. Therefore, to cater for everyone, PC games tend to be lower spec and not as good! Il give you an example - the PC you might buy locally, could come fitted with a ATI radeon monitor, whereas the guy next door might have a nVidia model, etc. The developer has to compenate for the requirements of each by developing something that can be used by all, meaning that the BEST components of each are not used - this is called a COMPROMISE.

well.. with XBOX, for example there is NO compromise. You know the graphics card from the word go. Developers can design their games to take full advantage of the hefty memory and graphics components already in an XBOX.

The other area is that the console boxes (like XBOX, PS3, etc) are made for the sole purpose of playing games. There is nothing else on them. A PC/MAC can have plug ins, virus checkers, worm checkers. email programs, internet programs, monotoring programs, etc all hogging up your RAM. Whereas a console runs only one thing - GAMES. This means all resources on your console are dedicated to these games and not shared - which makes for a more complete experience.

There is more, but I hope this helps for now..

Generally speaking if a game comes out on all the different consoles it will come out on PC as well (hence the name multiformat title). If however you're talking about ports from Consoles to PC or just why game developers don't seem to be as consistent with making titles for PC's as they do for consoles then I can only presume it's dues to the constraints of the hardware.
Just think about it you have an Xbox 360, PS2/3 or Wii and though you might have a memory card to save stuff on rather than a hard drive or vice versa the hardware is essentially the same for everyone.
This isn't the same with PC's though as everyone has a different processor, graphics card and amount of memory, possibly even hard drive space and operating system is a factor too, so it can't be the same. Simply put it's just not viable for games developers to make games for the PC and Mac like they do for consoles because there is so many variables to consider.

do not promote the Wii, purely the Xbox 360 and PS3. That way you could play each and every of the perfect video games in the perfect format a danger. You get each and every of the shooters and different similar video games the Xbox 360 does except with more beneficial efficient controls and infrequently even more beneficial content textile, like call of duty 4, Bioshock, assassin's Creed, Mass outcome, and maximum probable sometime in the destiny Halo 3. you also get get entry to to each and every of the Wii's tremendous unique video games like Metroid properly 3, tremendous smash Bros. Brawl, Mariokart Wii, and fireplace emblem: Radiant daybreak. pc is your on line equipment for once you're on my own and Wii is your exciting equipment to play with acquaintances and they both have tremendous unmarried participant experience reviews too. notwithstanding, it is going to fee you nonetheless plenty more beneficial once you promote the 360 and PS3. an excellent pc will positioned you in the $2000 variety, until eventually you recognize what you're doing and construct it your self. construction it your self can get you one with a similar specs in the $1000 variety. and also you'll in all likelihood ought to improve plenty, notwithstanding it truly is fairly well worth the money it expenditures. EDIT: those are some solid specs there, yet you ought to in all likelihood pass extremely speedier on the processor. when you're short on money, i'd say drop the RAM to 3GB and up the processor as a lot as you could. 4GB of RAM purely isn't mandatory with any video games at recent.

It all comes down to $$$. We, as PC gamers, just don't have the market anymore, unlike the console kids of today. Heck, even I've been bitten by the console bug (Wii).

These guys are all smacktards...PCs can have much more robust systems than consoles (which are usually 2 year old PC technology anyways). Problems aren't to do with drivers, because software companies usually have dedicated driver programmers anyways (I'm a bank software programmer). It's all to do with kids buying console games instead of PC games. Drives me nuts, especially for 1st person shooters, because of the ease of mouse-aiming instead of controller-aiming. Of course, the Wii's gonna change all that...

Because Macs are s h i t.
PC are the sort of things to use finding cheats for a game and consoles get used more because its easier to type in the cheat on the game controller than it is on a PC or Mac.
