Love letter. Guys do not write thoughtful, romantic letters anymore. If she is at all romantic, she will treasure it. Beware: Do not use cheesy cliches or song lyrics.
Give her a CD of love songs (from store or download songs from online). Same concept of a mixed tape but much better sound quality. Some say it is corny, but I think it is a classic.
Finally, try to think back to a time she mentioned something she wanted to buy but didn't. Or get her something she asked for over the holidays but didnt get. This shows her that you are really thinking of her instead of just buying generic gift of flowers and candy (although these are great too!)

Your full attention
Your love
chocolates are always accepted
Sincerity and smiling eyes beat dollars any day
A stuffed toy ... nothing tacky
Her favourite perfume
Flowers are beautiful but roses over done... be wild, give her flowers in any colour!
Suffer through her favourite chick flick without falling asleep.
My favourite gift ages ago was a Japanese FightingFish and in the bottom of his tank was a lovely little gold ring to be "fished" out.

You want to be unique, something that would be different than any other would get his girlfriend. Flowers always work but it doesnt always have to be roses, find out her favorite flower in a pink or red shade or shade it yourself by putting food dye in the water you keep it in. Make her a nice card or poem or take her out on a surprise date. anything could always be good but offer her yourself, your support, your love, your help and tell her you'll be there for her if ever she needs anything. You should make her breakfast in bed on vday if you live with her or you could make a special dish or a valentines dinner. it doesnt have to be something bought either, or something fancy and classy, romantic or scary movies are good to watch together and cuddle in a blanket. during scary parts she'll cuddle up to u for comfort. another cute idea is to make a card like a movie ticket and write admit one on it and hten in the inside rright, so and so would like to meet u at his place for a movie and a bear hug session. i rememebr getting that from my boyf. so creative he is. a picture frame wouldnt be bad either, make one out of popsicle sticks and put ur most favorite picture of you and her together in it and add red and pink, shed be touched that u actually put the effort to make if for her. Hope that this will help. try a scrapbook too!

Ask her friends if she's told them what she'd like. Lots of girls won't tell their boyfriends what they want, since it wouldn't be "romantic" if we already knew what we were getting.
Here's a list of common Valentine's day presents: roses, candy, balloons, small stuffed animals, perfume, and jewelry. Lots of men take their significant other out for dinner, too.
Good luck! And happy Valentine's Day!
