He'll be or first or second ballot HOF inductee. I believe Ottis Anderson is the only eligible career 10,000 yard rusher to not be inducted. Add to that having over 5,000 career receiving yards, and he's got a pretty strong case. But his new NBC gig will be the clincher. HOF voters (made up exclusively of members of the sports media) seem to be more likely to vote for a candidate if they're either friendly to and/or a member of the sports media.

If Tiki played for another few seasons he would have made a stronger case for his bid to the Hall of Fame. As of right now I think he still can get in, but he will have to wait a few years(maybe). Barber is only one of three players with over 10,000 yards rushing and 5,000 yards receiving for his career. The are only two other players in NFL history to put up those numbers, and they Marcus Allen and Marshall Faulk. I think Tiki has a shot.

Probably not as 10,000 yards rushing isn't much by todays standard. There are about 7 guys in the league right now who are approaching or already past 10K. Heck, Art Monk can't even get in the HOF even though he set many league records and won 3 Super Bowls, not sure how Tiki will get in before Corey Dillion even. However, 1-2 more 1000 yards seasons would have been enough to make Tiki a sure-fire HOFer.

Doubtful unless something mystical happened in that time.
Don't get me wrong, Barber was a good solid running back. However, when I look at the Hall of Fame I cannot even mention Barber in the same breath as with Payton, Marcus Allen or Tony Dorsett. Barber never did lead the team to the next level, or give us something extraordinary like Jim Brown or OJ Simpson (as a running back, only...not his character).

Not necessarily because you don't know if he would've broken down next year. I think that leaving at the top of his game leaves a lasting image of him. Compare that to the image you have of Curtis Martin. Granted, there's no comparison, Martin is the #3 all-time leading rusher (Barber is #17 I believe). But Martin had an injury-plagued 2005 and never got on the field in '06. Meanwhile, Barber's last regular season game was a career game, over 220 yards. Add to that, the receiving yards...I think he has a good shot.

I hate the Yankees, yet Bernie is like Jeter--in case you're a real baseball fan, you would be a Bernie Williams fan, too, whether circumstances stress you to boo him each time he bats. That being mentioned, he's nowhere on the factor of being a HoFer. the only reason you're even asking a question like it is via fact Williams performed for Yankees. i visit confess, nonetheless, that enjoying CF for what may be the final group of all time, the previous due ninety's Yankees (I could swallow vomit with the intention to place in writing that, yet they have been), does earn you intangible factors for the hall. And, back, the Jeter assessment is a sturdy one, via fact Williams did a lot of issues to win that don't happen at the back of a baseball card. With 3 to 4 greater stable, usual seasons, his numbers would nonetheless no longer be quite as much as the point you opt for for Cooperstown. yet those numbers would have been weighed greater heavily in accordance together with his status as a Yankee large who gained a handful of jewelry, and that i'm uncertain that's misguided. Phil Rizzuto in no way makes it in if he wasn't the SS for those large Yankee communities interior the 40's and 50's. Being a winner has to count quantity for something. That being mentioned, he nonetheless isn't "just about" a hall-of-Famer. 3 or 4 greater all-celebrity high quality years is the style between a lot of folk stepping into or no longer. If Jim Rice had controlled 3 or 4 greater usual seasons, he would have long gone in first poll, extremely of being screwed over as a consequence of inflated steroid-era numbers.

Tiki, WILL be a Hall of Famer with the numbers that he compiled in his career. Yes, he probably has a good 4-5 years left, but you can't blame the guy for wanting to lead a normal, healthy life after football. Tiki--Class of 2011

I am pretty sure he will still make the Hall of Fame. He is in the top-ten in multi-purpose yards. And he has made a lasting effect on the NFL style of play. He had the heart.

I think he still has a shot at it. He has borderline HoF numbers (a career average of about 100 total yards/game and a TD every-other game), but what's going to be Giant for him (I couldn't resist) is his nice-guy image as well as the fact that he's going into broadcasting. He's still no Marshall Faulk, though. Another season or two of 1500+ yards and a few TDs definitely would have made him more attractive as a choice, though.

He never won the big one so that will hurt alot. When you think of the hall of fame you definately don't think Tiki Barber. The hall of fame is not about who can put up statistics its about great players. Dont think he would be considered on the same level as some of the great players.
