Stay away from them.

Certainly you mean people who are habitually dishonest.

Because no one here, even the smug self-righteous "Well! I simply stop dealing with all THOSE types!" people who act so above it are dishonest from time to time.

Whenever it suits people, they lie. Some people are less inclined to do so, but we *all* lie - and we know anyone who says they never lie - is lying!

As far as habitual liars - how do you deal with them? If you are forced to, say in a business setting, you learn never to believe the first story you hear (it's like being a cop - you just turn on your BS detector with that person). Get them to write things down or sign things. Have an email folder just for them so you can hold them to prior commitments, etc.

If it's personally, and you are in a relationship, you either tell them despite how much you like them you have to end it or you demand verficiation of even small things so they know they cannot get away with lying when they're around you. Personally, it's not worth the effort and indignation running around checking up on someone all day and night. Sure she has lied to other guys - but if I were someone special in her life, why is she lying to me? That's the feeling I would get. You might see it as a project. Who knows?

But you don't just carry your high and mighty "I've never lied" self out the door away from every person the first time they lie, or soon you'll be sitting on a deserted island lying to just yourself about how you never lie. How would you want someone to approach *you* about *your* lies? Firm, but gentle, not allowing it but asking you to stop and improve as a person, and telling you if you continue it will so harden you and damage the relationship that it can ruin it, right?

So do that with them.

I dont. I dont deal with dishonest people... esp if I basically met them. I even do not have any emotional funding, so why difficulty? it may well be a waste of MY time. at the same time as there are more beneficial advantageous people, billions of them to fulfill, why would I waste my time with ONE individual, and the single individual who's dishonest? which will be highly stupid of me. Dont you imagine?

You're not being very specific. If somebody is dishonest, I don't let them work their way into my life if I can help it.

Integrity is the most important selection criterie in choosing friends, partners and allies.

If they unfortunately have to be your life because of family or other ties keep a database/log on there behaviors for future use. This will help keep them under controlled if you have facts about them at your finger tips.

First, if I catch them in a lie, I tell them outright they've been caught and then I generally tell them to stand the hell away from me.

I try to remove them from my life - if I cannot do this, then I don't believe a word they say and keep a guard up.
