only an "x" mark appear in the upper left corner of the place of the picture.what can i do to retain it?

You need to install some third party software. Its free.
go to www.adobe.com and install the flash player. Be sure to uncheck the yahoo toolbar option.
While you are there, install the adobe reader, so you can read online pdf. files (very common)
Next install java.
www.java.com and push the download now button.
This should solve your problem.
If not, cinn is right, there could be a problem with the web site's picture association.

Usually that happens when the pictureshave f been removed from the site that is hosting them.So nothing you can do..
