Yes I remember it - I also remember most of the time it being really boring - I preferred to actually read the book unless the narrator was good.

I think most people though it was great because their own parents didn't read to them enough. I loved it and loved to read myself, and I now watch it on CBeebies with my two littl'uns.

Some of the readers were really good at expressing themselves too - which my dad never was.

Yeah...only I was one of those children that couldn't sit still...I found it boring to just sit and watch TV....I preferred to play outside in the safe road!! How times have changed!!

I used to love Jackanory, I'd sit with my little brother everyday in awe of those stories, great programme.

Becasue in those days we had nothing better to do.
No i-pods, no internet and only 3 TV channels.
