Electric blankets.
There are a few variations in the electric blanket industry, and so these days, you can find warming quilts, multiple temp controlled area bed warmers, in various materials, They can still be bought in the old fashioned way they had been made forever . The prices can be a unexpectedly high for the luxurious designer type varieties.
A hot water bottle just would not cut it. Too messy to prepare, gets cold too soon and you have to get up when it is stone cold to go through all that to prepare it all over again. Archaic.

Hot water bottles are better if you want the heat it one spot, but if you want the heat distributed more evenly an electric blanket is better. One other advantage of an electric blanket is that it will not get cold. Just be careful not to wet the bed because you could get electrocuted.

It really depends on what you need it for. If it is for keeping warm, electric blanket is the way I would go since it would cover more area, you can adjust to the heat setting you want, and you don't have to worry about it losing heat as a water bottle does.

Electric Blanket. One of my friends had a hot water bottle explode in their bed, had to go to hospital severe burs, with scars. But then the blanket could explode so its all much of a muchness really. Sigh.
