Yes I loved my spectrum, especially the loading noises.

I also loved the Dizzy games, had Head Over Heels too. But my absolute favourtite was Skool Daze!!

If anyone is interested you can get an updated version of Skool Daze for the pc now, its called "Klass of 99". Just google it, loads of sites have it available for free download.

Oh yes.

I liked:
Manic Miner and Jet Set Willy, for the weird humour and playability.

Lords of Midnight and its sequel (Doomdark's Revenge?) for the strategy and roleplay and the clever illusion of absolute freedom and your actions having real consequences. Amazing what these programmers could do with only 48k.

And my absolute favourites: Atic Atac, Sabre Wulf, Warlock of Firetop Mountain... in fact, anything where you had to go round a vast number of different rooms/caverns/areas and collect things in order to get out. I could play that sort of game all day.

There are two others whose names I cannot now remember, one where you were trying to repair your crashed spaceship by exploring an underground labyrinth (you could jump around using portal gates if you had the right key-cards, choose to fly or walk by getting in and out of little lifter thingies, and make platforms to climb up), and another where you had to collect flowers and herbs to cast spells and duel to the death with a rival wizard. If anyone can remember either of those I'd love to be reminded of the names.

Ah, great days.

That brings back memories! I used to have a ZX81 with a 16k ram pack that always used to fall out and make the computer crash. When I upgraded to the Spectrum I could,t believe the whole range of colours and by far the best game was Frogger. Kids don't know they've been born today with X-Boxs etc!

I did!

Dizzy egg was good. But you've missed some of the classics. My favourites gotta include...

Jet Pac
Manic Minor
Jet Set Willy
Pitman 7
Attic Attack

Ive still got it gathering dust in a cupboard. Comes out every now an again for a bit of nostalgia!! Still good!

Yeah i did, i loved it and i was the envy of all my friends hehe!
My favourite game was called Attic Attack... you could choose to be a knight, a wizard or a serf, you had to run around rooms looking for keys whilst fending off attacks from bats, mummies, and vampires!
Another favourite game, i think it was called GunFight, you were a sheriff and walked around a town looking for bandits to shoot.
Ahhh those were the days !

Sadly enough, courtesy of an a ZX Emulator for my PC, I still play the old games! (although I do miss that weird "loading noise")

I was always more fond of the Dan Dare series and the speccy interpretation of the film "Aliens" which is one of the most atmospheric games I've ever played to this day (Playstation - take note!)

No one has mentioned the classic Hungry Horace and Horace Goes Skiing.
Most of all, I used to love listening to the sound of the games loading!
