If a woman can peel an apple without a break in it on the spring soltice, she throws it down a well and will see the face of her true love.
It's unlucky to just throw bread away. It should be fed to something, even if it's just birds. (Breaking bread w/ Christ)
If you sweep dirt out a door instead of into a dust pan, you will sweep out all the good luck in your house.
The thing with leaving thru the same door you came in, that's because people used to have wakes in their homes and to keep a comfortable flow as people viewed the body to pay last respects they would enter thru 1 door and go out another.
A bird in your house signifies a death soon ( sparrows were believed to carry one's soul to eternity when one had passed).
You should never bring cut flowers to someone that is ill because essentially you are bringing death to them. Only living plants should be brought.

An acorn should be carried to bring luck and ensure a long life.
An acorn at the window will keep lightning out
Amber beads, worn as a necklace, can protect against illness or cure colds.
Seeing an ambulance is very unlucky unless you pinch your nose or hold your breath until you see a black or a brown dog.

my niece claims to believe in karma, if it's meant to happen it will happen, but she is the most superstious person i've met. the oddest superstition i've seen her observe is that there are some magpies nested in the trees opposite her house, whenever she sees one she salutes and says "good morning mr magpie hows the wife and kids". Now that is odd!

When your new-born baby's cord drops off, bury it somewhere which will further the child's future. In the school or university garden, possibly in the window box of a bank.

My grandmother believes that if you sweep your foot with the broom you should spit on it (the broom) to avoid bad luck. Also, I've heard that it's bad luck to whistle or sing while you are going number two!
