The cost of living in England just keeps rising whilst jobs and pay seem to decline, and as for the 7 month winters !..... Is it really a more chilled out lifestyle around the Med ?

The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence, however, unless you speak the language, you will not survive outside of the tourist season, and the cost of living is indeed less, but the ammount you earn is too.

I would like to live in Dalmatia, Croatia, but must earn enough here in the UK, as the house prices are the same in both countries. I also need to learn a lot more of the lingo first.

Most sunny places in the Med are more chilled out. If you find a job and you are working for somebody else then you will have no worries. It's only when you try to open your own business that the stress and cost is sometimes not worth it. Unless you try it then you won't know if it's the right thing for you or not.

Lived in both for a while - would have to say Greece to be honest - more laid back - but the downside - jobs!

On the islands the jobs are seasonal to the main - on the mainland not so much of a problem!

Changing home-land does not improve your lot. If England were such a rotten place, the English would have vacated England long ago. My advice is : if you are British try to enjoy England otherwise leave it. I think you are non British. Thats why this question arises.

Come to Australia. Our currency is practically worthless. In Spain you could get terrorist attacks. In Melbourne your safe. Dont go to Sydney though.
