I like the name Mackenzie. However it is a LAST name and it means "SON OF KENZIE". So why do folks give that name to their daughters, and further more why don't new parents do a little research into names?

Honestly, would you name you daughter gary, mike, jeff, etc, or your son Susie, Betty, Veronica?

Folks, look up the names you want to name your children and Just so others can know, the proper name for a female should be Nickenzie, meaning Daughter of Kenzie.

P.S. It's gaelic, my daughter's name is gaelic and I studied very hard to find a fitting name.

My son is named Mckenzie which is a variation of mackenzie.
Yes it does mean that, but not all people named mackenzie
have parents that couldnt be bothered to find the meaning!
Lots of parents name their children names that mean something to them!
Our son was named mckenzie after my grandad who passed away while i was pregnant,His name was Kenneth,I couldnt name my child that in 2004! Also my parents live in scotland so mckenzie(ken in the middle see?) was born of those two ideas! Dont judge others just because you had the inclination to study harder than others on the meaning! Names are very personal to the individual, I was named claire for gods sake no thought in the meaning of that my mum just loved the song in 1976! Thanks gilbert 'o' sullivan
P.S. Who in the world would name their child that!!!

Believe it or not Mackenzie is an Unisex name.

Why do people name their daughters Terrie, Randi, or Baylee (Bailey)?
They are all unisex names.

That name is terrible: Nickenzie (the beginning of it is a boy's name: Nick)
I mean why does it matter to you what everyone else names their kid?

I agree with Kitkat I don't think most people care about the meanings behind the name. As long as you like it, who cares what other people think, it's not there child. If you look up the same name in different books or websites a lot of them have different meanings. Who comes up with what they mean anyway, lol.

It doesn't matter what it means or the origin. Why is research so important? Mackenzie is one of those names that has developed into a girls name...just like Jordan, Morgan, Dillon etc.

I picked my daughters names because I liked them..I dont really care what silly hidden meaning is behind them.

Who cares? really, does it matter? Everyone gets sick of the same old names and if they want thier child to have a unique name then so be it. If it happens to be originated for a different gender, who cares?
