I am from sommalia,after we got engaged my mother checked my to be wife to check if she was circumcised.Sadly she was not circumcised.My mother decided to circumcise her the same night of our marriage.I remember she was escorted into the room with my mother.She did not know anything about what she was getting into.Though I knew I didnt tell as i know she would not co-operate.My mother stripped her naked and fifteen women who come with the circumciser took hold of her and pinned her on the bed.They opened her legs wide open and riped clotoris out.I was not allowed to come in but i knew they had started to cut her as she was screaming her lungs out.No sooner did they rip her clotoris she became unconcious and she started bleeding very profusely.We rushed her to the hospital were she was given 4 sticthes.She was unconcious for 3 days after which she regained concious..She is so scared that she is not allowing anyone to have a glimpse of it ,she is unconsolable how can I help her recover?

ok... im disgusted by this. you actually let someone do this to your wife? wow. it may be normal in "your" culture but i think its cruel. i wouldnt be surprised if your wife now hated you for the rest of her life, i would.

You know, I know that this is probablelly a troll but I find this practice barbaric. Some african cultures still do this today. It is usually done to female children at the age of 5. Their clitorus is cut off and their vaginal opening is sewed shut. The reasoning behind this is that only men should enjoy the act of sex (that would be why the clit is removed) and women should not have sex with anyone but their husband (this is the reason the vaginal opening is sewn shut). And while I agree that people should only sleep with their spouse men have no right to force women (or children) to submit to this! If you actually did allow this to happen to your wife and you are in any civilized country I hope your wife divorces you and then sues you and your family for everything you all have...or that she castrates you... both would be nice...

I'm really sorry you let your wife go through that. Was it really necessary? You didn't even tell her what your mom wanted to do. As your wife, she should be more improtant to you that your mom. You should have protected her, not let her totally hepless to be mutilated without any need. Physically speaking, circumcision in women is not the same as that of men. How would you feel if somebody left you in the hands of 15 men with a knife to cut the head of your penis off. How is she going to trust you now? I wonder how she will agree to have sex with you.
You can't undo that now. So I guess you can only start by saying how much you're sorry for not protecting her and for allowing to be hurt. And then, make it your decision to be always on her side so she must regain the trust in you. Think about your future daughters, do you want them to go through the same thing as your wife just did?

I am familiar with the practice of female circumcision in other countries. I have to say I am deeply affected by your story. What your family did was morally wrong. They have changed her body and taken from her that which God gave her. I don't know if you realize but the female clitoris is what allows the woman to feel satisfaction during sex. Your new wife has been stripped of the ability to enjoy sex with you. Now, sex will just be a physical act, not one of pleasure where she can enjoy the sensation of your body. It is sad, what your family did and what you allowed to happen to her.
I understand that you want to console her. I think the best you can do now is encourage her and tell her that you love her no matter what her physical body looks like. I imagine her body will now have permanent scars, as will her emotions from this tragedy. She needs to be reassured that you love her and her body. She also needs time to heal. Please, allow her the time to greive what she has lost physically and emotionally through this tragic and horrific situation. Most of all, pray to Jesus Christ that he will bring her through this, and heal her body and crushed spirit. That he will restore her with a peace that only he can give. Also, ask forgiveness for the sin that has been comitted against this young woman.

Are you serious!! you people are sick! how could you let them do this to her. I know this is normal in your village but i think its pretty unfair for many reason. You should of told her that this was going to happen give her some type of heads up. So its ok for you to feel good while you f****g her and she cant feel s***t. What is the reason behind all this cruelty in africa. i really dont understand why you people do what you do, is it goin to make this world a better place, is it going to end world hunger? I feel sorry for that poor girl she will always have the memory of that day with her. If i was her i would come back and shoot each one of you in the head, you freak!

This is a totally barbaric thing to do, I am sorry but this custom is vile, it should be stopped, your mother deserves to go to prison for assault, I would have already taken her to the police for this. I hope to God that you are making this up? Female circumcision is illegal , you need to tell your mom that she can go to jail for assault. It is butchery!!!
