"The Kiss" was bought by the Austrian government's Österreichische Galerie Belvedere the year it was first exhibited - 1908. It has never been sold since. So, there's no way it was sold for $100 million or been up for auction for $17,000.00.

It was bought in 1908 for 25,000 crowns - roughly $250,000 in today's currency.

17 years ago, I was with my father at an auction house in New York, and he would not let me buy it for 17,000 dollars, quite a mistake, wouldn't you say?
