I have a bunch of records sitting around and I don't listen to them anymore because it's just too much of a faff to have to flip them every 20-30 minutes!

IF you can find a CD of the recording, it is generally easier and better quality to just purchase a new CD [faster also] -- Of course, you can record your records directly to stand-alone cd recorder... but to do more sophisticated work and restoration you'll need to use your computer for recording, digital audio-editing and CD-mastering.

If the vinyl is the only record, you would need to get a turn-table, connect it to your receiver... connect the receiver into your computer through a converter or directly into your good quality soundcard and record each track.
