Thanaweya Amma, the Egyptian Nightmare..
In my point of view, Thanaweya Amma is a stupid education system that is only made for students to memorize without understanding. Its cost varies from Very cheap in public schools, and somehow expensive in private language schools. However, in both cases they have to take very expensive private lessons to pass the 2 years, or r they 3 years now?
On the other hand, i don't know much about American diploma, all i know about is that its more into the American education system. which allows students to choose what they want to learn, but its expensive and only found in well known private schools. also be careful that if u entered an Egyptian university, u have to study

General Secondary Education in Egypt extends over three years, of which the first serves as a preparatory year for the other two.
In this first year the student studies both humanistic and scientific subjects. At the end of the year, and on the basis of his or her grades, the student enters one of three streams in which he will study for the next two years: humanistic, scientific, or mathematical, each with its specific curricular focus, although some subjects, such as Arabic and religious education, are taught in all streams.
At the end of final two year, students sit for a highly centralized final exams. Depending on the student's score on these exams, the student chooses the university the student wishes to continues the post-secondary stage.
Since this system is well-known to impose tremendous psychological and financial stress on the students and their families, a need to refine or even over-haul the entire system is always on the agenda of every consequent minister of Education.
A new Secondary Education system is being proposed and in a current advanced stage of planning. The new system has many similarities with the American High school diploma providing more choices in the student in choosing the academic courses.
A high school diploma is a diploma awarded for the completion of high school. In the United States and Canada, it is considered the minimum education required for government jobs and higher education. An equivalent is the GED.
Education systems based on the British model have independently marked national examinations instead of a High School Diploma — General Certificate of Secondary Education in England, School Leaving Certificates in Ireland, Higher Grade Examination in School and IGCSE/AICE internationally.
Florida uses the British A-level program (called Advanced International Certificate of Education) for advanced students while a number of schools in Virginia use the IGCSE.
European system use the Baccalaureate system and the International Baccalaureate (IB) is becoming increasingly popular in the USA and worldwide.
Students who attend high school and do not pass the 12th grade, or pass the 12th grade but do not meet the standard graduation requirements will not receive a high school diploma, but will instead receive a certificate of attendance.
i Hope the above answers ur Question ....Best of luck
