like why do they ask the most obvious questions...it's stupid why ask online hen you can ask a friend DUH!!

Don't worry. You're not the only one who was blown away by this. If some alien civilization decided to download Yahoo! Answers and base their opinion of our planet on what they read, we would all be sunk.
I'm not a smart guy. But it's hard to not notice that most of the intelligent questions go largely unanswered here, and then you get a question like 'Hotdogs, or hamburgers?' that will get about 93 answers and 10 stars on it. I really don't know how the asker would benefit from this information, but I know that all the folks who answered at least knew they wouldn't be wrong. So maybe the answer to your question is 'the stupider the question, the more answers you'll get.'
I figure people do that for different reasons. For some its getting the most points, for some it's like a chat room or a popularity contest. If you sift through all the questions from women who have just become pregnant, kids who don't want to think for themselves while doing homework, and if you're lucky enough to find a good question that's actually phrased like a question, you can actually have fun with it.
For me it's just entertainment. Sometimes the stupidest questions can be the most fun and every now and then I might even ask one too. My best reason for coming here is finding great intelligent questions, and there are many, and seeing some brilliant opinions out there.

I think Jessie should be given a break, she's only saying she doesn't recognise many names and that the quality of the questions tonight are particularly low. It's up to her to ask the question isn't it seeing as she's been reminded enough that this is Yahoo Answers.

I seriously think people are just THAT stupid. Well its not so much being stupid, as it is lacking COMMON sense. Somewhere in the mid 90's, the common sense gene somehow got switched off in about 75% of the population.

well yor question is seen by alota ppl! + they r unknown....so it's better ask cuz they can't backstab u or sumthin....well, there r some times dat it's hard to tell a frend so it's better jus post it online n see wat different ppl thinks.....get wat moi mean?
