what do you mean " what year is he from?" are you asking what year he was born? Are you asking what year he discovered North America...uhh 1492, he sailed for Ferdinand and Isabel and was Italian born. See " The Age Of Discovery," History not Math.
However, Leaf Ericson, the vikings, were to North America before this point in time, and his father, Richard The Red, discovered Greenland ( which he named to make it sound lush and wonderous to attrack the people)

don't know, but he discovered America in 1492 so he couldn't be born then maybe 1461
