I find it boring since I'm not good with numbers, but by majoring in accounting, you have many career options in the business field and room for you to get promoted over and over. Your background will definitely be worthwhile in a booming corporate environment. To see if you actually enjoy it, try doing a few internships when you can and see if you like the accounting field at all.

In my opinion, the job is not boring unless you dont like to do repetition work. Beside that, if you dont feel like working with people, you can open your own accounting firm, doing accounts, tax and audit. It's actually a good way of earning your own income. You can also, help other people whom in need of financial advice.
Nowadays, accountant work scope is not only limited to doing accounts, there's a lot of others things that may involve, ie IT with accounting.
If you still not sure, just check the class out, and get the feels first. Then consult with the lecturer regarding your problem. Maybe they'll give you a better view.
Hope this helps.

I am a part qualified accountant myself and when I decided to take this subject, I was feeling the same as you are now. But its been 2 years now and I have a really god job. There is always a lot of demand and you can always move around. I have worked in a museum, in airport and now in a charity as a finance officer.

I'm an Accountant and I love it! the smartest career move I've ever made. Don't consider it just a job though, it's not something you can just walk in to!

My role is Management Accountant, which is basically attending meetings and calculating the potential financial effects of decisions made by an executive committee.... and influencing them to an extent too ;)

One more thing... my salary has trebled in the last 5 years and I live rather well as a result!

Good luck

It will always be a necessary career. Whether you do taxes for individuals or if you work for a company.
It is very important to go to school, whether or not you actually follow that career path later, it will help you out having that background.

Good Luck!

I've heard some say it is boring work. BUT in accounting, you will ALWAYS have a job.
Some other more glamorous jobs may not be here in five years.
