statistically steve trachsel will do everything at this stage in his career better than kris benson. the oft injured benson was never
able to recover his peak years after tommy john surgery in 2000.
benson career era. 4.25 trachsel 4.09 with trachsel you get a player who comes to work every day without the clubhouse
distractions you have with the antics of benson's wife. there's not
a huge difference but that was your question , i believe. have fun this season.

Not the leader, but Benson wasn't the leader anyway. Their pitching relies on the continued development of Eric Bedard, salvaging the potential of Danny Cabrera, and hoping Leo Mazzone can get the most out of Jarret Wright like he did in ATL. Trachsel is a decent #4 but I think in that park and that division, he's gonna get rocked more often than not.

Steve Trachsel is actually a decent starting pitcher, but he's not an ace. I would put him a notch higher than a healthy Benson, but much more is needed if the Orioles are to at least become competitive again.

I think Trachsel will be more valuable to the O's than Benson and not because of win totals, although I think he'll win somewhere between 10-14 with Baltimore. I just fell that Trachsel's got thicker skin and will handle the AL East pressure better and therefore be able to teach/ lead the young pitchers that the O's have by example. He does not need to be the man because Bedard is/will be.

Does it really matter? It's the Orioles. No one cares about them anyway. Go white Sox!

Trachsel is a good veteran pitcher but he is old. They need a younger leader for their staff.
