No chance of drowning. Fell asleep in the bath the other night for 10 or 15 minutes. The drowning senstaion would wake up even the deepest sleeper.

I have done it several times, falling asleep in the bath, but never drowned yet, even after a fair bit of alcohol, what usually wakes me up first is the fact that the water is getting cold!

I think you'd be more likely to wake up choking, if you take a breath if you start to slip under. However, I am led to believe that you can drown with a nose bleed, so taking in too much water may lead to drowning.

You'd wake up first. Even if you fell asleep and managed to "slip under" the water and swallow any water, your body would instantly wake up.
Breathing in an involuntary action and if the source of oxygen is cut off, your body knows this and will immediately respond in a manner that causes you to forcibly struggle to seek air.

You are genetically programmed for survival, so if water rushed into your mouth, your subconscious mind would wake you up to alert you to the danger. The only time this wouldn't happen is if you were unconscious or dead, as a result of a blow to the head or from watching celebrity big brother.

I've woken up in the bath choking and spluttering. Drowning is a very unpleasant experience - I don't believe anyone could sleep through it! Probably an urban myth.

Although I cannot speak for everyone, my last 2 lives ended when I drowned in the tub after falling asleep. I am hoping in my next life to be reincarnated as a fish so that stops happening.

How can you drown when you've fallen asleep in the bath? When you've got all your wet skin (on your back, on your bum, on your legs, etc.) in contact with the bath and under your weight, there's enough friction to stop you from slipping in under the water.

the moment you get a little bit of water through the nostrils, you are most likely to wake up. so, if water in the nostrils = drowning, then u drown first. Ortherwise, you wake up first.

You would most likely wake up when you mouth or nose hit the water, or if you are a heavy sleeper you would most likely drown.
