Maximum Overdrive. The day the comet passed through earth's atmosphere and made all the machines go crazy. The truck in question was most definately not a toy. The movie is based on a short story by Stephen King called Trucks. This story was included in the book Night Shift. There is a TV movie called Trucks also based on this story. I believe it stars Timothy Busfield. And yes, Mr. King did direct this movie. It originally received an NC-17 rating for violence and gore, but ended up with an R rating after some editing.

he was called "Stripe".
I saw it was listed as "Spike" once, but It is Stripe.
