I realize that we initially "think" that we should all be tolerant, but does this work?

Many say we must be tolerant of all except those that are intolerant. If I strive to be "tolerant", but can be intolerant of someone else that is intolerant, should I then become intolerant of myself for my intolerance? So it seems that we all must be intolerant of something, so then how can we preach tolerance?

This concept, initially, sounds warm and fuzzy, but seems to be self defeating. What do you think?
