You don't have to choose a field yet. Go to college, get a good, broad liberal arts background (unless you know you want to be an engineer). With a background like this, you'll be well prepared for lots of things, and for grad school if you like. Make sure you don't skip writing courses. Having strong writing skills is important in all areas, and many college graduates are very weak in this area. Good luck to you!

I think it is GREAT that you are focusing on what you want to do when you get out of school. Don't let anyone tell you that it is too soon for you to consider it.

High School is just around the corner and you will be faced with the decision sooner than you think.

But consider college while you consider the career. Don't just think that life will be better once you get "a job". Your education behind any job you have makes the world go around smoother than without.

Keep those goals and work towards them!

In my opinion, if you don't know what you want to be yet, then don't focus on it right now. Continue your schooling, make sure you go to college and stay on the right path.

When the time comes that you find something you're interested in, it'll take over your mind like a raging storm. THEN you'll know what it is you want to be when you grow up! Some people know when they're small children, others don't know until they are teens, and then there are even plenty who don't know until they're in their 30's and 40's. Don't rush it, just worry about keeping your grades up and your mind going strong.

You'll know when you've realized your dream career, so don't burn yourself out on trying to figure out what it is yet. The best of luck to you!

I would suggest talking to your school counselor about taking an aptitude test. This will help direct you in the best area for your particular interests and skills.

Stay motivated, it's good to see someone so young (no insult intended!) looking forward to their future and what they can and want to accomplish!

Good luck.
