u hit the nail on the head darl!!
ya, and that usually lasts for about 8 hrs from b4 school rite thro till after school and afternoon tea .. i use really strong flavoured gum. and for the food times in btw, ive mastered it. chew the gum on one side and the food on the other, and whats even better, after a lot of practise, now i dont get the slightest crumb stuck to my gum, so if i were to take it out, ud neva know that i just had lunch while chewing on it. cool eh?

Now heres a funny thing. If you take the gum out of your mouth and then put it back a few minutes later the flavour seems to come back. It didn't actually go away, but your taste buds 'get bored' of the same flavour and stop tasting it.

Try it sometime . . .

Until it looses it's flavor, color and gets hard to chew. Then I roll back in my office chair and see if I can score 2 by spitting it across the room into my little trashcan. I usually score!!

I think it depends on the chewing gum and why you are chewing it. It also depends on if you begin to feel some pain in your jaws. If you chew it to increase saliva flow or to mask bad breath, it is "till jaw pain do us part". If it is for its own sake or for its sweetness, definitely one would throw it off immediately it gets tasteless or it is getting hardened. The common denominator is when you begin to feel pain in your jaws.
